_The Bird Men_ Written by Theodore Bezaire and Mike Stasko

Before I get into the main review, some background about me. During my early college years I seriously considered becoming an Ornithologist.  The community college I attended did not have a department drawing out enthusiasm in that area.  In combination I started to develop a skill in Writing, wanted to keep with it; I and could not see myself move locations and make both a future career and location switch.

This movie focuses on actor Tom Cavanagh as Ron Spencer, proud Dad and Ornithologist and his daughter, Actress Cassidy Renee as Sam Spencer, an enthusiastic Birder and 14 year old daughter.  Ron starts out in a low point of his life, professionally his career is being pulled out from under him as he is expected to get promoted to Head Ornithologist at Pelee Region Provincial Park.  However Jay ‘Floyd’ Hawkins, played by Jamie Spilchuk gets the Head Job.  He then befriends Ben, a former highschool Student he taught, and they both seek comedy revenge.

There seemed to be some Writing and Development issues with regards to The National Park President played by Fred Willard.  He was very with it and together at the beginning of the movie. Than towards the climax of the film he shows up drunk and out of it at a gala.  It seemed to be more plot motivated and would only work with more time written to his character.  This didn’t ruin the movie for me however.  There are very few bird focused films out there.  They come around here and there, and are rare, and enjoyable.  This movie is in the ranks of Columbia’s _Fly Away Home_(1996) whose working title was Wild Wings per a VHS I had previewing the trailer for the next year only to find the movie title changed per advertisement right when coming out.  It is also in the ranks of Dreamworks’ _Paulie_ (1998).

It was a feel good movie, it had good acting and filming.  I found the film sitting in a bin at The Dollar Tree.  I had never heard of it before, but this isn’t a testament to the film. I don’t keep current with all films coming out.  Its release date, 2013 was a very demanding year for me.  I gave birth. And I fought aggressively for it, but I had no time divided by energy to invest in intellectual pursuits.

I created a math equation to illustrate:

T= Time

E= Endurance or Energy

W= War-fare

A-MIL = Verbal Assaults by Mother-in-Law

T in intellectual pursuits = 0%

Fought by Will Power
T / E x A-MIL = W

War Fare was internal and outwardly
